Husband and I talk about this all the time…the 24 hour news cycle is the cause of some of the most egregious missteps in the history of mass media and the general absence of quality and impartiality that exemplifies Big Media. Journalism in the 21st century is nothing more than partisan rumor-mongering. There’s no fact-checking, there’s no impartiality. There’s choose your side and put on your bib, because we’ve got some nice bullshit-flavored gruel to feed you!
When I used to blog, er, elsewhere, our motto was “We’ll fact check your ass!” But even with bloggers taking up the slack, there’s still bias. To our detriment, the days of unbiased reporting are just over.
