Let’s See the Hole Card

By  ·  November 8th, 2008

I actually yelled…YELLED…at Mr. Liberty Girl (hereafter MLG) this morning.  Well, not AT him, but in conversation with him, over this:

At this point, Supreme Court Justice David Souter’s Clerk informed Philip J. Berg, the lawyer who brought the case against Obama, that his petition for an injunction to stay the November 4th election was denied, but the Clerk also required the defendants to respond to the Writ of Certiorari (which requires the concurrence of four Justices) by December 1. At that time, Mr. Obama must present to the Court an authentic birth certificate, after which Mr. Berg will respond.

(emphasis the blog post author’s)

I read the above out loud to MLG and he dropped this nugget on me:

HONOLULU, Hawaii – Although the legitimacy of Sen. Barack Obama‘s birth certificate has become a focus of intense speculation – and even several lawsuits – WND has learned that Hawaii’s Gov. Linda Lingle has placed the candidate’s birth certificate under seal and instructed the state’s Department of Health to make sure no one in the press obtains access to the original document under any circumstances.

That’s when I started yelling.

Hey, The Messiah’s birth certificate may be perfectly legitimate, but why would you not just haul the fucking thing out and show it around?  Are you afraid people will then learn you were actually born instead of descended from Heaven on the wings of an angel?

Article Two of the United (Fucking) States of America Constitution:

No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty-five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.

If it is somehow proven that this poser, this snake-oil salesman is ineligible, what then?  Biden becomes president?  Much like the thought of sex with a clown, I am simultaneously amused and revolted at that notion.

Oh, by the way…the Governor of Hawaii?  That’s a MAN, baybee.

  1. McCain would then become president as upon disqualifiying the Obama electors (from the electoral college vote in mid-December) would leave the most left going to McCain (McCain/Palin).

  3. Was his mother an American citizen when she had him? Then he’s a natural-born American. If he were born in orbit around Mars to one American parent, he qualifies.

He’s at least 35 and been here 14 years in a row, right?

The only issue here is that they’re being stupidly secretive, and must therefore be hiding something.

Even if someone manages to force Hawaii to release the birth certificate, it won’t prove or change anything.

Conspiracy thought: his mother isn’t who they say she is. Then we got ourselves a scandal/Constitutional crisis. It’s the only logical explanation.

  4. Question for one and all: If his father is Kenyan, and his mother American, but he went to school in Indonesia, which doesn’t allow non-citizens to enroll, did he renounce his citizenship in order to do so?

  5. As I recall, the controversy revolves mainly around two points:

    1) His grandmother says he was born in Kenya (to this day!), but his mother says he was born in Hawaii.

    2) If he was born in Kenya, as apparently is possible, then his mother may have been out of the country too long before his birth for him to be a citizen (there was a loophole at the time about time spent in the U.S. before the birth of a child)

It’s all kind of weird to me, but as most of you have said, it’s really time for him to put up or shut up on this matter. Hiding his birth records is a very bad idea. Besides, he’s going to have much bigger things to deal with soon.

  6. Ah ha, DW’s point #2. Has the legwork on Mother Obama’s travel itinerary been done?

For that matter, can anyone find the doctors or nurses at Hawaii General (or whatever) who did the delivery? I imagine there were medical records, billing records, a bed that was filled, maybe pharmacy records, people who want to brag that they delivered a president, etc. You know, circumstantial evidence.

  8. Concealing something like this would require a rather large conspiracy…and the sad fact is more than three people just can’t keep a secret. So, while it looks really bad (not to mention plain old stupid) to clam up about something like this, there’s probably nothing awry.

I will happily consume those words with the condiment of your choice should I be proven wrong.

Dogette: From my reading of the article, it sounded like she sealed it mainly against press query. Irritating, but not illegal or shady. I guess.

  9. David: to the best of my knowledge, the assumption that a child born to an American, outside the U.S. is automatically an American citizen, is not accurate.
In example, let’s assume the following:
BO Mom is American, and retains citizenship. BO Dad is not American. BO is not born in America.
Unless BO Mom, as an American Citizen, filed for an American Born Abroad birth certificate (such as Senator McCain’s parents did), then no, in that case, regardless of his mother being an American citizen, BO is NOT.
This may not be accurate in every situation, however – I have only been exposed to this type of situation in terms of military dependents born abroad.
Dogette, if I remember correctly, the Governor of Hawaii introduced Governor Palin at the primaries. So I think she is a Republican. Then again, they let Liebermann in, so I could be wrong.
Conspiracy or not (and I’m NOT a fan of conspiracies these days, like we don’t have enough proven sh*t to deal with), the whole thing stinks. No matter which way you look at it. Pee Ewwww.

  10. Ted:
That is an interesting question. My husband brought up the same subject, saying that Indonesia didn’t allow dual citizenship. So did his mother relinquish his American citizenship? Or did he automatically lose it when he was adopted by his step-father? That would not have anything to do with his Birth Certificate, but it is an interesting thought, nonetheless.

My (very obvious) question, is why wouldn’t he just hand over the document and clear up an issue so easily solved? Lots of conspiracy theories running about on the web, one of which is that his father is Frank Marshall, the Communist poet, and not Barack Obama, Sr.

Again, it seems like he would put a stop to all such theories and just produce the certificate. Such an easy matter to solve…

  11. dogette’s right. Hawaii’s Governor — she was visible @ RNC. (The Governor I mean; I didn’t spot dogette on the teevee.) I will not conjecture on her motives.

Why isn’t a lady Governor a Governess (large G) or isn’t that PC?

This is dead anyway. It’s too late to pursue legitimacy issues. Just contemplate a President Biden. Or scarier, a President Pelosi. Be careful what you wish for. Obama needs to watch his left. That’s where the shot will come from. That will be after the Bread Riots start. His enemies on the right are by nature law-abiding and less inclined to assassination.

  12. @no, not THAT Glenn: Oh, I can just imagine the shitstorm over calling her a Governess.

I would like to think things wouldn’t get to the Shortage Riot stage before at least a recall vote was attempted. We can’t all be utter sheep, can we?

  13. Since the Electoral College hasn’t “officially” made him President yet, wouldn’t failure to comply with legitimacy requirements simply forfeit his electoral votes? In which case, the victor would be the next highest vote holder?

But, then again, I’m kind of getting used to the idea of letting the children do their damage for the next two years, then having some grown-ups come to Washington and sweep up in 2010. Some CONSERVATIVE grown-ups, not the current definition of Republicans….
