I don’t understand this move, either. However, since I know the beast is not stupid, she must have a good political reason for accepting this.

Perhaps it’s because it would put her higher in the line of succession than she is now…

Her political career is over. If (WHEN) his administration fails, she will not be able to swoop in and say “I told you so”. Instead, she will be caught up smack-dab in the middle of it.
