I was going to post about this horseshit this morning, but something came up. Now going back and re-reading the article some 12 hours later, and it’s still horseshit.
A lawyer representing a man charged with drunken driving has claimed Connecticut’s breathalyzers discriminate against blacks.
…
Ruane said research shows the lung capacity of a black man is 3 percent lower than a white man’s and, therefore, black men’s test results vary from the sobriety standard set by the device.
All I have to say about that is this. Honestly, there’s like TWO white guys in that list.

Jesus Jumpin’ Christ! That argument doesn’t even make sense! Lung capacity makes a difference in your BAC?
“Assistant State’s Attorney Mark Durso declined comment”… Please, allow me, Mark:
“That is the most retarded defense ever put before this court and Mr. Ruane should be ashamed of himself for even saying it out loud. In order to punish this absurd waste of time, Mr. Ruane’s client should serve double the usual amount of time for this offense.”

jana, No. Not just No, but Fuck, No.
Let the lawyer share a cell with the guy. I think abuse of the judicial process is some kind of offense.

Hmmmm… put the lawyer in jail, too… I’m likin’ it! There would be a lot less bullshit cases clogging up the courts if the fate of the attorney were the same as the fate of the defendent.
Who should we call to get that policy implemented?

jana, actually I wouldn’t want to put all the lawyers in jail, cuz someone who’s really, like, guilty still deserves to have one to make sure he doesn’t get screwed worse than deserves.
NEVERTHELESS that doesn’t coincide with felony stupid misconduct. There still is such a thing as contempt of court.
