I recently ventured into my local government office here in the Florida Keys to apply for my homestead exemption on my newly purchased home. I was asked to supply a birth certificate and other credentials to show I was qualified to receive the exemption. When asked for the documents I reflexively replied, “Obama can become President without a birth certificate but I can’t get homestead exemption without one?” The government employee behind the counter gave a wry smile and proceeded with my application without the required documents.

Uhh- Obama has not yet been elected. The Electoral college needs to look at this, and if they fail to do their constitutional duty, the courts should.

BTW- Martinez does not appear to know how we elect a President.

I recently had occasion to email 5 of our LOCAL pols and I received canned responses from 2, halfway decent carefully-worded responses from 2, and no response at all from 1. The no-response asshole was HIDING from *everyone* at the time, though, so what the hell, I didn’t really expect a reply there anyway.

I wrote the canned ones back, because I was “annoyed” that my tax money is PAYING these public “servants” and here they were sending canned emails that addressed nothing I had asked about.

Oh sure, they’re always “concerned” and “glad to hear from you” and if they can “be of any help in the future” you should contact them. Oh! you mean like, send an email?

So I wrote a reply email: “Thank you for the thoughtful canned reply. Did you even bother to actually READ my email?”

I’m so anti-incumbent right now it’s off the scale.

BTW, dontcha just love Mel’s “concerns were raised” passive voice in the letter to you? Typical.

So, according to MM, the Supreme Court doesn’t interpret the Constitution, WE, the voters, do? Cool. I gots me some interpretin’ to do… there’s lots of shit going on right now that doesn’t suit me.

And, by the way… where IS that there birth certificate? Because even though (according to Mel Dipshit) the Supreme Court doesn’t have any say in the matter, they DID order BHO to produce the document by 12/1… The SCOTUS doesn’t generally cotton to folks ignoring their orders, either….
