  1. If you at all the cities run by liberals, they resemble war zones. Fallen buildings, dilapidated infrastructure, and so forth.

Yep, the progressive agrarians have done wonders for our inner cities and urban areas.

  2. … and imagine the joy in knowing nothing we do in this part of Michigan will hold any sway over the clowns elected by clowns in Flint, Saginaw and Detroit.

  3. LG, you made me cry. Seriously, I just don’t think I can take much more unity. I’m.so.tired. Pete in Midland, at least you’ve got a little space between you and the folks who think that 40 years or so of Democrats has put a new shine on their countenance.

My parents lived in the city when I was born in the 60′s. Their neighborhood was predominantly black and there was only one family who allowed their children to play with my brothers. Before too long, our family moved out to the suburbs, along with most everyone who had enough money or gumption to do so. Mayor Coleman Young made it pretty clear that white people didn’t belong there.

It’s always been a fact that we were to stay on the other side of 8 mile with a few exceptions, but this article and the rhetoric is horrifying and surprising to me. It’s like finding out that someone you only glancingly know and always thought you were okay with has harbored a deep and burning hatred for you. How can this be?

I met an older white woman a little while ago who was shopping with two adorable African-American babies about nine months old. She and I got to talking and I asked if they were her grandchildren. Turns out that they were her 41st and 42nd foster children and were about to go back to their mother (they had been with her since they were born). I asked whether the mother had gotten her life back on track and the lady said no, but that the court was giving them back anyway. You could tell how sad this was for this lady; she clearly loved them. When I asked how and why she was able to do this, knowing that these children were not going into a happy home, she said “I know that these children will be raised to hate people like me, but I do this in hopes that someday there will be some small part of them that remembers that a fat, old, white lady loves them.”

I wish that people in the city weren’t steeped in the belief that the people outside the city wished bad things for them. I wish that they knew that most of us would love to reach a hand out to them, but we just don’t know how, and frankly, we’re a little afraid.

In my darker moments I say things to MLG – things I neither believe nor advocate – but those darker moments are getting more numerous. The end of racism? Not by a fucking longshot.

  5. Honestly LG, I think that this is part of the plan. Have you noticed how often we are told about how UNITED we are, and how often you see that it is clearly just the opposite? I read about Bill Maher saying “If we killed two random, rich greedy pigs; blew them up at halftime at next year’s Super Bowl. Or left them hanging on the big board at the New York Stock Exchange, you know, as a warning, with their balls in their mouths, I think it would really make everyone else sit up and take notice.” and I wonder what is happening to our country. We’re being sectioned off and set against each other like a dog fight. We have EVERYONE vs. “the greedy rich”, black vs. white, responsible vs. irresponsible, union vs. non-union, etc. I’m starting to believe that the divisiveness is part of the plan. Getting you to hate your adversary will make it much easier to stand by while they cart him off for re-education. Can’t you just picture the jealous neighbor applauding as that rich-bitch housewife next door gets her comeuppance? I’m not jumping into it, and I will encourage everyone to keep this in mind — they’re dividing us so that we can be conquered.

  6. 5kids … they are TRYING to divide us, like they always have … but only managing ot do so by virtue of the gawdawful schools “teaching” class envy.
As far as racism, well, it’s pretty well been institutionalized … caucasians are hated by everyone of “color” while they continue to put their greedy hands in our pockets to fund their lifestyles.

I wish I could say that I’m ready sad that I’m am being laid off in 3 months and jumping right into retirement, but I’m not sad … because I damn sure do NOT want to fund the present system/government!
