Well, I’d dearly love to post something profound here regarding those bleating ninnies who claim today’s Tea Parties are A) staged, B) useless, and/or C) to be ignored, but I’m too busy fucking FUMING about the technological failure that is my desktop computer.
It has, in a word, lunched itself. The combination of errors reported indicate a memory failure, no doubt precipitated by the fucking plastic bag I found stuck up against the side of the tower, so I’ve got 4GB of memory inbound from Crucial, and we’ll be trying a superdisk repair later on, because Dell – those hamfisted fucktards – do not include recovery disks with their systems.
If all this funtime fails I’ll have to do a complete wipe/reinstall of Windows, which totallysucks since I’ll have to buy an all new copy of the fucking o/s, which we can ill afford at this juncture. Even better, my Photoshop CS2 copy is two releases behind current, it just never being a convenient time to shell out $200 for the upgrade, so I might have to buy that bitch all over again, as well.
I’m just sayin’, I know times suck, but I might be begging for some donations before this horseshit is through.
Stay safe at the Tea Parties, y’all, and remember: don’t punch a bitch unless you’re sure there are no cameras on you.

Oh heck, I use Photoshop 7 still!

Don’t fix trash … unless you bought it only a few months ago, it is already obsolete.
Have a competent person at a business that services business PCs build you a current tech box, and hand you the Windows XP OEM disk and license.
Slave the drive from the dead box as a “D” drive in the new one, and recover your data from it.

I feel for you. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had to fix a hosed out Windows installation. You can probably save you data, but it won’t be pretty. I don’t want to get into an OS war…I use ‘em all, but the next time you by a new PC…look at buying an iMac. Damn things will run underwater…basically, all a MAC is…is the best GUI built on top of *NIX…stable.
Just my two cents.
Also, The Tea Party my woman and I attended was great…could have smacked one bitch, but there were way too many cameras.
Have a good day.

why would you need to buy xp? you have the license on the box of that dell. all you need is a disk with the right version of windows. either microsoft can provide this(if you call) or dell for either 5 or 15$.

BTW, consider installing linux. Ubuntu is easy to install and there are programs to let you use windows software.

@Kristopher: If I couldn’t afford the Photoshop upgrade then I can’t afford a new system buildout, eh?
@Sam: Totally can’t afford to buy Mac versions of all the graphics software I use. Too late to go Mac.
@vinny: Turns out Dells can be restored to factory freshness by virtue of CTRL-F11 at a key point in the reboot process.
Linux (which I admin at work) is something I will definitely be looking at when I don’t have actual production work to get done.
